BisB Served as Gold Sponsor of the 24th AAOIFI Annual Shari’ah Boards Conference
11-October-2026
Reaffirming Its Commitment to Shari’ah Governance and Advancing Islamic Banking Practices
Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB), the leading provider of innovative Islamic financial solutions for simplifying money matters in the Kingdom of Bahrain, returned as Gold Sponsor of the 24th Annual Shari’ah Boards Conference, organised by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). Supported by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), the conference took place on 11th and 12th October 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama.
The sponsorship builds on BisB’s longstanding participation in one of the Islamic finance industry’s foremost gatherings, bringing together prominent Shari’ah scholars, regulators, experts, and industry leaders from around the world to examine key issues and developments shaping the sector’s future.
The two day conference featured five specialised sessions exploring Shari’ah and other themes central to the development of Islamic finance. Discussions addressed harmonising Shari’ah standards with legal frameworks, assessing actual direct lending costs, dual tranche syndicated financing structures, the impact of emerging circumstances on financial contracts and obligations, and the rulings and practical applications of receiving compensation in exchange for a commitment. The event also saw the launch of AAOIFI’s Sukuk Self-Assessment Programme and its index.
BisB’s continued involvement in the AAOIFI conference forms part of its broader engagement with leading industry platforms at both national and international levels. Through these efforts, the Bank remains focused on strengthening the Shari’ah and technical fundamentals of Islamic banking, contributing to the refinement of industry practices and supporting the sector’s long term growth in Bahrain and beyond.
