Bahrain Islamic Bank appoints a new Chief Risk Officer

Fahim_AhmedBahrain Islamic Bank announces that it has appointment Fahim Ahmed, as the Bank’s new Chief Risk Officer effective 01 December, 2015. Mr. Ahmed brings over 17 years of international banking experience where he held various roles in corporate banking and risk management, the last as Chief Risk Officer at Standard Chartered Bank Bahrain, where he has been for the last three years. Mr. Ahmed has served in several markets such as Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, UAE and UK. He has a diploma in Islamic Finance (CDIF) and an MBA from the University of Warwick, UK.

Hassan Jarrar, CEO of Bahrain Islamic Bank, said that “this scope of this new role for BisB spans well beyond the historical risk management responsibility at the Bank. In addition to credit risk management, we will formalize the practice of operational risk management and portfolio management. This appointment is part of strengthening the senior management team at the Bank, and in particular the risk management function. It is our intention to build a best in class management team, who will be instrumental in helping BisB achieve its transformation efforts, particularly in helping train, mentor and establish clear succession plans for our Bahraini talent.”
